ICAgile and AI Training in Brunei

Employers in Brunei are being asked to take on more local talent while unemployment for 18 to 24 year olds stood at 18.0 per cent in 2025, according to the Labour Force Survey. At the same time, ministries are moving to Digital Brunei 2030 and its Data and AI strategy, and the energy sector is expanding downstream. Organisations here are small, so each trained person carries a large share of the change.

Why teams in Brunei come to us

Energy at the centre, with a large expansion ahead

Oil and gas still made up 44.6 per cent of Brunei's GDP at current prices in the last quarter of 2025, and Hengyi Industries plans to start up its Phase II expansion at Pulau Muara Besar in early 2029. Upstream operators in Seria and Kuala Belait, the LNG plant at Lumut and their contractors all run long, linked projects. Agile delivery, portfolio and Lean methods help these teams plan in shorter cycles and see risk earlier.

Digital Brunei 2030 puts data and AI into every ministry

Digital Brunei 2030, announced in June 2026, joins the government, society and business strategies under one Data and AI strategy, and lists projects such as the GovBN SuperApp and a national large language model. AITI's AI Governance and Ethics Guidelines already ask for transparency and human oversight. Civil servants and their suppliers need working AI literacy and product skills, not only new systems.

Young Bruneians entering the workforce

Unemployment for people aged 18 to 24 was 18.0 per cent in 2025, against 5.0 per cent for all adults, according to the Labour Force Survey. As graduate and apprenticeship schemes bring young Bruneians into private firms, managers need simple, shared ways of working that new joiners can pick up quickly. Facilitation and coaching skills help experienced staff bring them up to speed.

Funding and paying for training in Brunei

SkillsPlus may help with some upskilling costs for Bruneian citizens and permanent residents aged 18 to 45 who work in the private sector, when their employer endorses the application and the company is registered with ROCBN and JobCentre Brunei. It funds short courses listed on the national lifelong learning portal, so check with JobCentre Brunei whether a particular course qualifies. What ICP means, and where to start

ICP stands for ICAgile Certified Professional. The letters after it name the topic, for example ICP-ACC for Agile Coaching. Agile Visa has been an ICAgile Member Organisation since December 2017. Most teams start with ICP, Agile Fundamentals (US$699), or with ICP-FAI, Foundations of AI (US$899).

Where to start, by role

East Malaysia: Sabah and Sarawak

Teams in Sabah and Sarawak join the same live online cohorts as Brunei, on the same UTC+8 clock, with Malay and English both widely used. Agile Visa also runs a Malaysian company, Agile Visa Sdn Bhd, and our Malaysia site covers training across Malaysia. Training in Malaysia.

How a first engagement usually runs in Brunei

In Brunei a first engagement usually starts with a short leadership session for heads of department in Bandar Seri Begawan, followed by one lead cohort that mixes experienced staff with recent graduates. Because organisations here are small, that lead cohort then moves into a train the trainer track so the practice reaches Belait and Tutong sites without repeat cost.
