AI in healthcare starts with governance and literacy
Healthcare organisations handle sensitive data and decisions that affect patients, so AI skills need to come with clear rules on what staff may and may not do with AI tools. A practical order is: a shared foundation for everyone who uses AI, a governance session for the people who set policy, and role-specific practice for the teams that will use AI day to day.
In the European Union, Article 4 of the AI Act applies to every provider and deployer of AI systems, whatever the risk class. Since the amendment that entered into force on 27 July 2026, it asks them to take measures to support the AI literacy of their staff, without guaranteeing any specific level. Questions to settle before AI training
Training lands better when a few decisions are already made. We suggest settling these with your governance and data protection leads first:
- Which AI tools are approved for staff to use, and for what kinds of task.
- Which data must never go into a general AI tool, such as patient-identifiable information.
- Who approves a new AI use case, and how staff report a problem with an AI output.

Digital health product teams
Teams building patient apps, portals and internal digital services need product skills as much as delivery skills: discovering what users need, setting outcomes and deciding what not to build. ICP-PDM and ICP-APO cover product management and product ownership, and the 3-hour ICAgile AI micro-credentials, such as AI for Product Discovery, add AI to specific product tasks.

Frequently asked questions
Which course suits a hospital or health insurer project team?
ICP-APM, Agile Project and Delivery Management: 14 hours of live training and a lifetime ICAgile credential. It suits project and programme managers who need to deliver change in short, tested steps. You can book seats on public cohorts or run a private cohort.
Do you give clinical, medical device or data protection advice?
No. We train people in AI, agile delivery, product and leadership skills. Clinical, regulatory, medical device and data protection advice should come from your own specialists and advisers.
Does the EU AI Act AI literacy duty apply to healthcare organisations?
Article 4 applies to every provider and deployer of AI systems, whatever the risk class, and healthcare organisations are not treated differently. Since 27 July 2026 it asks them to take measures to support the AI literacy of their staff, with no specific level required.
Can training fit around shifts and clinical rotas?
A private cohort is scheduled with you, so the sessions can be set around your rotas. Public cohorts run on fixed dates.
