What the four dimensions mean

The questions map to the four pillars of the ICAgile agile coaching competency model. Each pillar represents a distinct capability you draw on at different moments, and strong coaches develop range across all four rather than depth in just one.

Agile mindset and lean thinking

Coaching values and principles, not just ceremonies. The ability to explain why a practice exists and adapt it to the context in front of you.

Facilitation and teaching

Designing and holding space so a group can think, decide, and learn together, including the harder moments of conflict and disagreement.

Professional coaching

Using a coaching stance, open questions, presence, and self-awareness to help people and teams reach and own their own solutions.

Team and system development

Growing team capability over time, working across the wider system with leaders and structures, and making yourself progressively less needed.

How the scoring bands work

Each question is worth zero to three points, so your total falls between 0 and 24. The bands below translate that total into a readiness level and a suggested next step. The result is a guide for reflection, not a formal evaluation or certification.

0 to 9 Foundation You are building core agile understanding. Start with fundamentals and facilitation before moving into a dedicated coaching track.
10 to 17 Developing You have a working coaching stance and want to deepen professional coaching and mentoring skills.
18 to 24 Advanced You coach with range and are ready to lead transitions or coach at the enterprise level.

A developing score points to Agile Coaching, which builds professional coaching and mentoring skills. An advanced score points to Coaching Agile Transitions or Enterprise Agile Coaching.
