AI for Manufacturing
Where artificial intelligence genuinely earns its place on a shop floor and in a plant, and equally where it does not. Learners work through the manufacturing use case families that pay back fastest, confront the operational data problems that sink most pilots, and leave with a costed shortlist of initiatives they can defend to their own leadership.

What the course covers
- The manufacturing artificial intelligence landscape: what is production-real today across maintenance, quality, planning and safety, and what is still vendor promise
- Shop floor data reality: operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) data sources, historians and sensor streams, and the data quality gaps that stall most pilots
- Predictive and condition-based maintenance: failure signatures, early warning signals, and moving from calendar-based to condition-based schedules
- Computer vision for quality inspection: defect detection, in-line inspection, and how to scope a credible first vision pilot
- Production planning, scheduling and demand forecasting with artificial intelligence assistance
- Generative artificial intelligence on the plant floor: standard operating procedures (SOPs), shift handover notes, incident reports and engineering documentation
- Downtime and root cause analysis: interrogating breakdown history, maintenance logs and work orders
- Yield, energy and process optimisation, plus a working introduction to digital twins
- Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) applications: near-miss analysis, hazard identification and permit-to-work support
- Governance and human oversight: where a person must stay in the loop in a regulated production environment
- Building the department use case pipeline: scoring candidates by value, feasibility and data readiness
- Hands-on lab: each learner builds and presents one costed manufacturing artificial intelligence use case for their own line or plant
