Corporate team building in Malaysia, designed to be HRD Corp claimable

Team building, team bonding, trust and culture programmes for Malaysian companies: a half day at your office, a full day, or a retreat of 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights. Every activity ends with a guided talk about how your team really works. That is what makes it training, and training is what HRD Corp funds. We can run your annual dinner on the same trip.

The short version

Agile Visa runs team building, team bonding, trust and culture programmes for Malaysian companies: a half day, a full day, 2 days 1 night or 3 days 2 nights, anywhere in Malaysia. Every activity ends in a guided debrief, so the programme is structured training that HRD Corp can fund: up to RM 10,500 per group per 7 hour training day, plus allowances, subject to HRD Corp approval. Quotes on request. Updated October 2026.

What we run

One partner for every kind of team event, each designed around what you want people to do differently afterwards.

Team building

Indoor and outdoor challenges where teams plan, communicate and solve problems against the clock. Every round ends with a debrief that links what happened to your real work.

Team bonding

For new, merged or fast growing teams. People learn each other's strengths and working styles, and leave with working agreements they wrote together.

Trust building

Practical work on the behaviours that build and break trust: speaking up, keeping commitments and disagreeing without damage.

Culture building

Turn company values into behaviours people can see. Leaders and staff agree what each value looks like on a normal working day, and what it does not look like.

Mindset and motivation

An energising opening talk followed by a workshop on resilience, change and a growth mindset, so the energy turns into commitments.

Leadership retreats

Off-sites for management teams that mix strategy conversations with team work, so plans and working relationships improve together.

Annual dinners and gala nights

We plan and run your annual dinner with our event partners: theme, stage, emcee, awards and photography. See annual dinner and team building.

What each programme builds

Choose the outcomes that matter most to your team. Most programmes combine three or four of them.

Trust

Pairs and small groups rely on each other to finish a task, then talk about what made trust easy or hard. You take back: each person's working style, mapped on one team chart.

Communication

Challenges where the information is split across the team, so success depends on listening and asking. You take back: simple habits for sharing information quickly and clearly under pressure.

Collaboration and working together

Cross department challenges and a collaboration lab on a real work problem. You take back: a better hand-off between teams, agreed by both sides.

Transparency

Safe, anonymous ways to raise what usually goes unsaid, then a structured discussion without blame. You take back: named owners for the issues that were holding the team back.

Mindset

Resilience and growth mindset work that turns setbacks and change into something the team can handle together. You take back: personal habits for pressure, and how the team supports each other.

Culture building

Leaders and staff agree what each company value looks like on a normal working day. You take back: a team charter with specific, signed commitments and a date to review them.

What HRD Corp covers, and what it does not

HRD Corp funds training, not events. Plan the two parts separately and the claim stays clean.

HRD Corp Registered Training ProviderHRD Corp ClaimableHRD Corp Accredited Trainer

A team building programme is HRD Corp claimable when it is run as training: registered with HRD Corp, at least 4 hours long, led by an HRD Corp accredited trainer, and approved at least 14 days before it starts. Only the training part is claimed. The annual dinner, entertainment, prizes and gifts are paid separately.

CostClaimable, and HRD Corp's limit
Training programme (course fee)Yes Up to RM 10,500 per group for a 7 hour day, or RM 6,000 for a 4 hour half day. HRD Corp allows up to 50 people per soft skills group; we run groups of up to 25.
Trainee allowanceYes RM 250 per person per training day, or RM 500 when the venue is 100 km or more from the workplace. A flat amount paid to your company, with no receipts needed.
Trainer allowanceYes The same daily rate for one external trainer per group.
Chartered busYes As quoted, when training is at a hotel or outside venue, with the transport receipt.
FlightsYes The actual fare, with the e-ticket and invoice.
Training materialsYes RM 100 per group without a quotation, itemised above that.
Hotel rooms, hotel meals, venue hireNo Not separate claim items.
Annual dinner, entertainment, prizes, door gifts, T-shirtsNo Not training, so never claimable.

How the claim works

  1. Check your levy. Your company must be registered with HRD Corp, with no levy arrears, and the levy balance must cover the programme.
  2. Agree the programme with us. We send the registered course title, a timed itinerary, learning outcomes, trainer profiles and a quotation with a fee breakdown.
  3. Apply in eTRiS. Your HR team applies under HRD Corp Claimable Courses with fixed dates. HRD Corp must approve the grant at least 14 days before an in-house programme starts, and any query must be answered within 5 days, so apply at least 4 weeks ahead.
  4. Train. Participants sign the attendance form every day and must attend at least 75% of the training hours. HRD Corp may visit without notice to check the trainer, the venue and the content.
  5. Claim within 6 months. We claim the course fee from HRD Corp first. Your company then claims the allowances, buses and materials.

Agile Visa Sdn Bhd is an HRD Corp registered Training Provider and its programmes are HRD Corp claimable for eligible employers under the HRD Corp Claimable Courses scheme (shown in eTRiS as SBL-Khas). Claims are paid from your company's levy and are subject to HRD Corp approval and the Allowable Cost Matrix. The full rules, with a worked example: is team building HRD Corp claimable?

Where we run team building in Malaysia

Anywhere in Malaysia, at your premises or a venue we shortlist for you.

Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya

City hotels, plus nature sites in Hulu Langat and Broga about 30 to 45 minutes away. Rain proof, and good for a full day followed by an annual dinner in the same ballroom.

Port Dickson and Melaka

Beach resorts at Port Dickson, about 1 to 1.5 hours from Kuala Lumpur, and heritage town hotels in Melaka, about 2 hours away. On the sheltered west coast, so usable from November to March.

Pahang highlands

Janda Baik, Bukit Tinggi and Genting, about an hour from Kuala Lumpur, with cooler air and forest settings. Cameron Highlands is about 3 hours away. We always plan an indoor backup for afternoon rain.

Perak

Gopeng and Ipoh, about 2 hours north of Kuala Lumpur, for rafting, caving and outdoor camps.

Penang and Langkawi

For teams in the north, or a reward retreat by the sea. January and February are usually the driest months.

Johor

Johor Bahru, where Agile Visa Sdn Bhd is registered, and the Desaru coast. Convenient for southern teams and for companies with staff in Singapore. Desaru faces the east coast monsoon from November to March.

Sabah and Sarawak

On request, with local venues and flights arranged as part of the plan.

A venue 100 km or more from your workplace raises the HRD Corp trainee allowance from RM 250 to RM 500 per person per training day, so check the road distance before you choose. The east coast is wettest from November to March, and resorts are busiest in the school holidays.

Planned for Malaysian teams

  • Halal food. Meals from JAKIM halal certified kitchens or caterers, with vegetarian and allergy options.
  • Prayer times. Lunch covers Zohor prayers, lunch runs longer on Fridays for Friday prayers, and we add a short break for Asar whenever your team needs it. We choose venues with a surau.
  • Weekdays and state weekends. Most staff prefer programmes in working hours. Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu rest on Friday and Saturday, so we plan dates around your working week.
  • Every age and fitness level. Each activity has a lighter version, so older staff, pregnant colleagues and anyone with an injury can take part fully.
  • No forced performing. Nobody is pushed on stage or made to sing. Activities are designed for working adults.
  • Indoor and outdoor balance. Activities mix indoor and outdoor work, in line with HRD Corp's trainer guideline for team building programmes.
  • Rain plan. Every outdoor activity has an indoor version ready. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and the east coast is wettest from November to March.
  • Safety. A safety briefing before any physical activity, first aiders on site and event insurance, arranged with the venue.
  • Booking ahead. About 4 to 6 weeks for a day programme near Kuala Lumpur, 2 to 3 months for a retreat, and 3 to 4 months for a December retreat or annual dinner.
  • Language. Delivered in English. Bahasa Malaysia facilitation can be arranged for company groups on request.

Why companies choose Agile Visa

Training first, games second

Activities are chosen for what they teach. Every round ends with a debrief, so people leave with changes they will make on Monday.

Questions HR teams ask about team building

Is team building HRD Corp claimable?

Yes, when it is run as training. The programme must be registered with HRD Corp, run for at least 4 hours, be led by an HRD Corp accredited trainer, and have its grant approved at least 14 days before it starts. Only the training sessions are claimed, and claims are paid from your company's HRD Corp levy, subject to HRD Corp approval.

Can we claim our annual dinner from HRD Corp?

No. Annual dinners, gala nights, family days, trips, entertainment, prizes, door gifts and T-shirts are not training, so they are not claimable. We plan them as part of the same trip and show them as a separate part of the quote.

Which itineraries do you offer?

A half day of 4 training hours, a full day of 7 training hours, a 2 days 1 night retreat with 7 training hours on each day, and a 3 days 2 nights retreat with 15 training hours. We adjust each one to your team and venue.

How much can we claim for a team building programme?

For in-house training, HRD Corp caps the course fee at RM 10,500 per group for a 7 hour day and RM 6,000 for a 4 hour half day. At a hotel or resort your company can also claim a trainee allowance of RM 250 per person per training day, or RM 500 when the venue is 100 km or more away, plus chartered buses as quoted. Hotel rooms, hotel meals and venue hire are not separate claim items.

How much does team building cost in Malaysia?

It depends on group size, length, venue and travel, so we quote each programme on request. The quote shows the training within HRD Corp's limits, and the venue, rooms, meals, transport and any dinner on separate lines.

How far ahead should we plan?

About 4 to 6 weeks for a day programme, 2 to 3 months for a retreat, and 3 to 4 months for a December retreat or annual dinner. HRD Corp must approve your grant at least 14 days before an in-house programme starts, and your HR team has 5 days to answer any query, so leave a buffer.

How many people can join?

Any number. We run training groups of up to 25 people, each with its own trainer, so larger companies run as several groups at the same venue with a shared opening and close.

Which activities do you run?

Explorace and amazing race, raft building, sukaneka and traditional games, escape room puzzles, build challenges, a halal cooking challenge, beach games, jungle trekking, CSR activities and team nights. We choose them to match your goals, venue and fitness levels.

Who applies for the HRD Corp grant?

Your company does, in the HRD Corp eTRiS system. We give you everything the application needs: the registered course title, a timed itinerary, learning outcomes, trainer profiles and a quotation with a fee breakdown.

Do you arrange the venue, rooms, meals and transport?

Yes. With our event partners we shortlist venues, book rooms and halal meals, and arrange chartered buses, so the whole trip is planned around the programme.

What is the difference between team building and team bonding?

Team bonding helps people get to know and trust each other, which suits new or merged teams. Team building goes further and changes how the team works together: communication, decisions and hand-offs. Most of our programmes do both.

Will the activities suit older staff, and people who do not like games?

Yes. Every activity has a lighter version, nobody is forced to perform, and we ask about health needs before the day, including pregnancy and injuries, so everyone can take part safely.

Can we hold it on a weekday?

Yes, and most staff prefer it. Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu rest on Friday and Saturday, so we plan around your state's working week.

Do you provide halal food and prayer breaks?

Yes. Meals come from halal certified kitchens, lunch covers Zohor and runs longer on Fridays, we add a short break for Asar when needed, and we choose venues with a surau.

Can a motivational talk be claimed?

A short talk on its own cannot, because HRD Corp programmes must run for at least 4 hours. A motivational or culture workshop of 4 hours or more, registered as a course and led by an accredited trainer, is claimed in the normal way.

What do we receive after the programme?

The signed daily attendance forms your claim needs, an evaluation summary, each team's working agreements and photos of the day. Every participant receives an Agile Visa Certificate of Completion.
