What this course covers

Ten days in two blocks of five, with three to four weeks of project work in between, for Green Belts who will lead complex projects and coach others. Covers advanced statistics, designed experiments and leading improvement across sites. Certification is optional: participants can sit an independent, closed book Black Belt certification exam after the course.

What is a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt?

A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt leads complex improvement projects, often across departments or sites, and coaches Green Belts. Black Belts use advanced statistics and designed experiments, and many work on improvement full time.

Who it is for

  • Green Belts with at least two completed projects and measured results
  • Continuous improvement and quality engineers
  • Operational excellence and transformation teams

Before you join

  • A Green Belt, with at least two completed projects and measured results.
  • Comfort with basic statistics: capability, hypothesis tests and simple regression.
  • A project for the course, big enough to need data from more than one team or site.

If you have strong statistics and project experience but no Green Belt, talk to us and we will check whether the Black Belt fits.

What you will cover

Day 1, leading improvement

Deployment and roles, choosing projects that matter, the business case and financial benefits, stakeholders and change.

Day 2, Define and Lean in depth

Voice of the customer, CTQ trees, value stream analysis, flow and pull, quick changeover and total productive maintenance.

Day 3, Measure

Data collection plans, measurement system analysis for continuous and attribute data, and capability for normal and non-normal data.

Day 4, Analyse 1

Hypothesis tests, ANOVA, non parametric tests, multi vari studies, sample size and power.

Day 5, Analyse 2

Correlation, simple and multiple regression and an introduction to logistic regression, then a project review before block 2.

Day 6, designed experiments 1

Planning experiments, full factorial designs, main effects and interactions.

Day 7, designed experiments 2

Fractional factorials, screening, blocking, and confirming the results.

Day 8, Improve

Generating and choosing solutions, FMEA, mistake proofing, piloting and managing risk.

Day 9, Control

Statistical process control for every data type, control plans, standard work and sustaining the gain.

Day 10, leading the programme

Coaching Green Belts, running tollgate reviews, presenting results to leadership, and the final project review.

How the two blocks work

  • Block 1, days 1 to 5. Leading improvement, then Define, Measure and Analyse in depth, ending with a project review.
  • Between the blocks, 3 to 4 weeks. Participants collect and analyse data on their own project, with support from the trainer.
  • Block 2, days 6 to 10. Designed experiments, Improve and Control, and leading the programme, ending with a final project review.

Is Black Belt certification included?

Certification is optional. Everyone who completes the 10 days receives an Agile Visa Certificate of Completion.

Participants can also sit an independent, closed book Black Belt certification exam, taken online with remote supervision. The exam body marks it and issues the certificate, not Agile Visa. We arrange it for you and quote it as a separate line.

Agile Visa is a training provider. We are not accredited by, or a partner of, any exam body, and each exam body issues its own certificate.

Frequently asked

How much does Lean Six Sigma Black Belt cost in Malaysia?

This programme runs as a private, in-house cohort for your team, priced per engagement rather than per seat. Tell us the group size and format and we will send a quotation.

Is this course HRD Corp claimable?

Yes. Agile Visa Sdn Bhd is an HRD Corp Registered Training Provider, so this programme is HRD Corp claimable for eligible Malaysian employers, subject to your levy balance and HRD Corp approval of the grant application.

Who is this course for?

Green Belts with at least two completed projects and measured results. Continuous improvement and quality engineers. Operational excellence and transformation teams.

How long is Lean Six Sigma Black Belt?

10 days / 70 hours, delivered live and instructor-led, on site at your premises or online.

Who delivers the training?

Prashant Shinde, founder of Agile Visa and an HRD Corp Accredited Trainer, with 20+ years of delivery and 75,000+ professionals trained across 140+ countries. He earned the 6sigmastudy Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and Six Sigma Green Belt in 2016.

Can I go straight to Black Belt without a Green Belt?

We recommend a Green Belt and at least two completed projects first, because the Black Belt builds on both. If you already lead projects with data, talk to us and we will look at your experience.

Why two blocks instead of 10 days in a row?

So each participant brings real data from their own project to block 2. The weeks between the blocks are where the statistics turn into results.

Do I need Minitab?

It helps at Black Belt level. We use Minitab or similar software if your company has it, and Excel where it does not.

Can the Black Belt run online?

Yes, live online with the trainer, in the same two blocks.

Is Lean Six Sigma certification recognised in Malaysia?

There is no single official body for Lean Six Sigma, in Malaysia or anywhere else. Employers look at who issued the certificate, whether the exam was independent and supervised, and whether the person completed a real project. Our courses give you a real project and an Agile Visa certificate of completion, and an independent exam when you want one.
