ICP-ACC for Petronas and Malaysian Oil & Gas

Petronas, Sapura Energy, Dialog Group, Yinson, MMHE, Bumi Armada and ExxonMobil Malaysia are running parallel transformations across digital, operations and the energy transition. Agile coaching at scale is what holds those transformations together. We deliver ICAgile Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC) tailored for Malaysian oil and gas, with the discipline to survive HSE constraints, shift patterns and capital-project realities.

Why this sector, why now

The Malaysian energy transition is a coaching problem

The National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) puts a clear set of bets on the table for Malaysia, including hydrogen, CCS, renewables and grid modernisation. Petronas has been public about its dual mandate of hydrocarbons today and net-zero ambitions for 2050. Sapura Energy continues to restructure. Dialog Group expands its Pengerang integrated assets. Yinson moves further into energy infrastructure and offshore renewables. ExxonMobil Malaysia, Shell Malaysia and HESS run parallel digital and operations programmes. Every one of these institutions is asking the same question from a workforce angle. Who actually runs the change?

The honest answer is, not enough people. Senior leaders set direction. Project teams execute. Between the two sits a thin layer of agile coaches, scrum masters and transformation leads who hold the change together. When that layer is undertrained, transformation programmes stall, capital is wasted, and the next initiative gets quietly renamed.

ICAgile Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC) is the credential built for that layer. It teaches coaching as a discipline, not a personality. It covers the four coaching stances, professional mentoring, facilitation and team development across the team lifecycle. In a Malaysian oil and gas context, those skills are what make the difference between an Agile transformation that survives the next downturn and one that does not.

The capability gap we see

What is actually missing in Malaysian oil and gas coaching teams

1. Scrum masters who were never trained as coaches

Many people carry the scrum master title in Malaysian oil and gas without any formal coaching foundation. They run ceremonies. They do not coach. When the team needs a hard conversation, they reach for facilitation tools that do not exist.

2. Coaching practice that respects HSE and permit-to-work

Generic agile coaching content tends to assume a software product squad in an open-plan office. Malaysian oil and gas runs on shift patterns, control rooms, offshore rotations, permit-to-work and capital projects with multi-year horizons. Coaching that ignores those realities is coaching that gets ignored.

3. A vocabulary that bridges digital and operations

Digital teams speak in stories, sprints and value streams. Operations teams speak in equipment, lots, OEE and downtime. Coaches sit in the middle without a working translation. The result is two organisations running in parallel with no shared planning surface.

4. Coaches who get asked about AI and have no answer

Teams expect their coaches to have a position on AI in retrospectives, planning, backlog refinement and facilitation. Most coaches do not. They either avoid the topic or echo the latest webinar. Coaching authority erodes.

What we deliver

Sector-specific outcomes

What changes after the cohort

A real coaching cadre, not a title cadre

Coaches and scrum masters operate with a shared coaching model and a shared language. Team retrospectives surface real issues. Difficult conversations get had, not deflected.

Digital and operations that can plan together

Coaches translate between digital cadences and operations realities. Joint planning produces decisions that hold across both worlds, instead of decisions that collapse at the first HSE constraint.

Transformation programmes that survive leadership changes

When the coaching cadre is real, transformation programmes outlast the executive sponsors who started them. Capability lives in the organisation, not in one person's calendar.

AI in coaching practice, not in slides

Coaches bring AI into facilitation, planning and team development in ways that respect the team's domain and the institution's data boundaries.

Founder note

"Petronas professionals have trained with us over years across multiple programmes. The same pattern shows up across the wider Malaysian oil and gas ecosystem. The strategy is clear. The capital is committed. The coaching layer that has to carry the work is underpowered. ICP-ACC is the most direct way I know to fix that, and we adapt the practice cases so the certification holds up offshore, in the control room and in the project office, not just in a training centre. My HRD Corp Train-the-Trainer certification is part of how I commit to making this credible for Malaysian employers."

FAQ

Questions Malaysian oil and gas buyers ask

Is this the standard ICAgile ICP-ACC certification?

Yes. The certification awarded is the globally recognised ICAgile Agile Coaching (ICP-ACC), accredited by ICAgile. We are an ICAgile Member Organization and the founder is an ICAgile Authorised Instructor.

Can you deliver an in-house cohort for an oil and gas team in Malaysia?

Yes. We deliver private corporate cohorts in-person at client premises in KLCC, Cyberjaya, Bangsar South and Kerteh, and fully online for distributed teams across upstream, midstream and downstream.

Is this HRD Corp claimable for Malaysian oil and gas employers?

Our founder, Prashant Shinde, is HRD Corp Accredited Trainer. Agile Visa is not yet an HRD Corp registered training provider, so these programmes are not HRD Corp claimable at this time.

What does the cohort cost in MYR?

Public ICP-ACC fees start from RM5,000 per participant. Private corporate cohorts are quoted per engagement based on cohort size, roles and location. Fees exclude SST.

Who should attend from an oil and gas employer?

Scrum masters, agile coaches, project managers, transformation leads and senior engineers who carry change across digital, operations and HSE functions. We deliberately mix upstream and downstream perspectives in the same room when it fits the client's transformation.

How does this work in operational environments with HSE constraints?

We adapt the coaching practice cases to environments where shift work, permit-to-work, HSE governance and rigorous change management are non-negotiable. Coaching is taught as a discipline that respects those constraints, not one that pretends they do not exist.

Can you support a multi-year coaching roll-out?

Yes. ICP-ACC certifies the foundational coaching capability. ICP-ENT extends it to enterprise scale, and we structure roadmaps for client transformation teams over twelve to twenty-four months.

Is there an option to combine ICP-ACC with AI capability?

Yes. Many oil and gas clients pair ICP-ACC with our AI-Enabled Agile Coach module, which equips coaches to bring AI into team practices without losing the coaching stance.
