Three terms, three different things
The biggest source of confusion in Malaysian training procurement is conflating MyCoID, registered trainer status, and Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certification. They sit at different layers of the system and each is needed for a different purpose.

You need all three layers to line up for a claim to succeed. A great trainer with a TTT certificate cannot, on their own, make a programme claimable under SBL-Khas if the entity delivering the training is not a registered training provider. A registered training provider cannot bill claimably if the specific programme has no HRD Corp programme code.
What MyCoID actually is
MyCoID is the unique company registration identifier issued by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). It functions as a national identifier for the legal entity across government systems, including HRD Corp, LHDN (Inland Revenue), and SST registration. For training procurement, the MyCoID on the quotation should match the entity in your purchase order and the entity in HRD Corp's registered training provider database.
For Malaysian-incorporated training providers this is straightforward. The MyCoID is printed on the SSM registration documents and is published in the SSM Companies Commission register. For foreign-incorporated providers, the MyCoID belongs to the Malaysian operating subsidiary if one exists, or to the local partner that holds the HRD Corp registration on behalf of the foreign delivery team.
HRD Corp registered training provider (RTP) status
Registered Training Provider status is a separate approval, granted by HRD Corp after a formal application. The provider is assessed on legal standing, trainer panel, programme design, quality systems, and capacity to deliver. Once registered, the entity receives a registered provider number and gains access to register specific programmes under HRD Corp schemes such as SBL-Khas.
Registered status is not perpetual. Providers are reviewed and must remain in good standing. Programmes registered under the provider's umbrella each get an HRD Corp programme code that is the operational identifier used on grant applications.
Key check. The provider must be RTP registered AND the specific programme must have a programme code AND the programme must be approved under the scheme you are claiming under (most often SBL-Khas). All three live together, and any one missing kills the claim.
What HRD Corp Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certification is
The HRD Corp Train-the-Trainer programme is a structured certification for individual trainers practising in Malaysia. It assesses instructional design, delivery, learner assessment, and adult learning fundamentals. Trainers who pass receive a TTT certificate number recognised across the HRD Corp ecosystem.
For many claimable applications, the trainer named in the SBL-Khas application must be TTT certified. This is the layer that ensures the person standing in front of the room has been independently validated as a competent trainer, not just a subject matter expert in their craft.

How to verify a training provider before you buy
Use this checklist whenever you receive a quotation from a Malaysian training provider that promises HRD Corp claimability. Run it once, document the answers, and you will avoid the most expensive procurement mistake in this category.
- Request the MyCoIDAsk for the company's MyCoID and the SSM registered name. The MyCoID should match the entity name on the quotation.
- Check SSM registrationVerify the company is active and in good standing on the Companies Commission of Malaysia register.
- Confirm HRD Corp registered provider statusAsk for the HRD Corp registered training provider number and confirm it is currently active.
