Agile Insights & Glossary

What is Agile Budgeting?

Agile budgeting replaces rigid, annual budget allocations with rolling, decentralized funding models based on validated learning and strategic objectives.

In traditional finance, teams must guess what they need 12-18 months in advance. This encourages budget hoarding and punishes pivoting.

Agile budgeting (often linked to the 'Beyond Budgeting' movement) allocates funds to value streams on a quarterly or rolling basis. If a product proves its market fit via leading indicators, it receives more funding. If it fails, the capital is immediately reallocated to higher-value initiatives without bureaucratic penalty.
